Art Club creates Christmas cards
December 4, 2013
On Tuesday, Nov 26, skilled artists congregated in V124 at 2:10 p.m. to meet for Art Club. At the meeting, members made linoleum stamps to use for Christmas cards.
“We took a piece of tracing paper and drew or traced what we wanted to carve on the stamp. We then flipped it on top of the linoleum and transferred the drawing onto it. We then decided what we wanted to come out when we painted the stamp by carving it. Then we put the stamp onto paper a few times,” Jovana Dodevska (10) said.
The club is not just a typical art class. There are more hand on projects and students are able to become more creative, even if the club only meets once a month.
“I liked the project a lot because I’ve never done anything like it before so I got to try something new, and it came out pretty cool,” Dodevska said.
With the new techniques the club teaches, participants just have to take a step back and breathe a little before getting too worked up over the little things.
“Just be patient with yourself and learn from other peoples’ criticism and have fun,” Riana Revis (12) said.
