Shouts of vigorous cheer filled the room as JV girls swimming competed against Highland at home. In the end, the girls took home a winning score of 141-42.

“I think we did exceptionally well for one of our first few meets, [and] it’s always good to have a team that supports you and cheers you on,” Nathaly Velazquez (9) said.

Though Highland’s JV girls swim team was small in number, it didn’t quit.

“They do have a lot of good players that don’t give up,” Ariel Lara (11) said.

In addition to the effort put forth by the Lady Indians, the teamwork was a key factor.

“I think beyond the fact that they had a smaller team, we worked better as a unit and we motivated each other,” Sarah Diviney (10) said.

The next girls swim meet will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 9 a.m. at home and will compete against Penn.
