On Dec. 11, the varsity boys basketball team had an easy victory over the visiting Gary West Side Cougars with a score of 75-33.

“We didn’t have a game in a week, so we had to get back into the shape. Then, once we got into the flow of the game, it was over,” Robert Ryan (12) said.

The Indians fell behind in the first quarter by five points, but then the pace picked up. West Side trailed behind for the rest of the game.

A 19-point run helped the Indians create a solid lead. At halftime, the score was 38-18 in Lake Central’s favor. When the second half started, West Side remained scoreless until 2:50 of the third quarter.

“Our win against West Side was a momentum builder for our game against Bowman. This game set the bar for our team’s upcoming season,” Tyler Ross (12) said.

The Indians host Bowman Academy tonight at 7:30 p.m.

“I believe that hard work beats talent when talent isn’t enough,” Ryan said.
