Centralettes make an impression

On Saturday, Jan. 11, JV and varsity Centralettes walked away with a clean sweep at their second competition of the season. The competition was held at Grimmer Middle School, and both teams received first places in the hip-hop and jazz categories.

“I was very confident in both of our performances and I think we’re off to a great season,” Amanda Roberts (11) said.

Because the competition was local, they competed against few teams, but the girls did not perform less than their best.

“We worked a lot harder at this competition because we needed to make a good first impression on the judges,” Tari Markowski (12) said.

It was the team’s first Indiana High School Dance Team Association competition, so they would be seeing the same judges at Regionals and State. After their performances, they received an exciting reaction from their coach.

“After we got off the floor our coach said, ‘that was awesome’ and he kept on complimenting us,” Christine Foreman (12) said.

This following Saturday, Jan. 18, JV and varsity Centralettes will travel to University of Illinois in Chicago to compete against some of their top rivals, including Munster, Crown Point and Lake Forest.
