The boys JV basketball team traveled to Highland High School to compete against the Trojans on Tuesday, Jan. 14. After a back and forth battle, the Indians managed to pull out a win with a score of 48-36.

“We prepared for the game by going over their plays and practicing a lot. When we were out there, we just tried to match Highland’s intensity and managed to do that,” Skylar Smith (10) said.

The team’s leading scorer of the night was Ethan Darter (10) with a total of 12 points. At the game, Highland wore National Guard uniforms as a salute to veterans in the stands that night.

“It was a good thing to do to honor our troops. The uniforms looked really cool too,” Gage Ray (10) said.

The Indians take on the Portage Indians on Friday, Jan. 17 at Portage. With both teams represented by the same mascot, one could see where some tensions may rise.

“Portage is a rival of ours and we need to beat them because we need to prove that we are the better Indians,” Ray said.
