The Lake Central girls track team held a non-scoring indoor meet against Kankakee Valley at home on March 6.

“The team performed really well as a whole. The underclassmen really got a feel for how things will be run for the rest of the season, and I’m expecting good things for this year,” Madison Gomez (12) said.

Even though the meet was non-scoring, it allowed both teams to assess how the season will play out. The next time they meet will be at Regionals.

“Considering how practices and conditioning has been done differently this year since we don’t have a home track, I think that the team this year is performing to the best that we can,” Kristen Kaiser (11) said.

This year’s team is different because there is a JV team; in the past few years they did not.

The next meet will be at home on Saturday, March 15 against Morton and Munster.
