On Wednesday, March 5, Matthew Meneghetti (12) and the rest of the varsity boys basketball team traveled to East Chicago to play in their first Sectional game against the Highland Trojans.

Meneghetti broke the career 3-point shooting record by making his 41st 3-pointer of the season and 86th of the season.

“I was happy to break the record, but it was not my focus. My focus was to win the game,” Meneghetti said.

Since the previous record was 86 threes in a career, Meneghetti only needed to hit 41 more to add to his 45 three pointers he made his junior season.

“I was just doing my job on the team and my job is to hit threes and stretch the floor so that [Tyler Wideman (12)] has more room to work in the post,” Meneghetti said.

Meneghetti hit three more three-pointers to continue the season with a career high of 89 made three-pointers.
