Indians catch win against Portage

Two teams of Indians dueled for a win on the baseball field, and LC came out on top 11-5.  This kept their winning streak going on April 17 against Portage.

“We played as one unit,” Christian Mota (10) said.

Overall the team was strong offensively and was able to bring in 11 runs within seven innings.  Ryan Ruthrauff (10) pitched the whole game and only allowed the opponent to score five times.

“I think we hit pretty well. [Ryan Ruthrauff (10)] pitched really well,” Ian Gifford (10) said.

Although the score was high, there is always room for improvement.

“We need to be louder. [We need to work on] our communication and base running,” Gifford said.

Some have a conventional way of preparing for a game — stretching, listening to music and just relaxing, while others take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

“I take the mental approach. I visualize my playing as what I’m going to do,” Mota said.

Looking forward, the boys set expectations for the rest of the season.

“[Our goal for the season] is to keep an undefeated record,” Gifford said.
