A salute to veterans

Hannah Pratt, Author

Veteran’s Day is a day to commemorate veterans all around the world. World War I was supposed to be The War to End All Wars because of the fighting and all of the soldiers that died. In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson set aside Nov. 11 as Armistice Day, a day to remember WWI and also all of the veterans who served.

Veteran’s Day is an important today for not only recognizing the soldiers from WWI, but also remembering all soldiers.  Veteran’s Day is recognized in our community at the middle and elementary schools by having students bring in their parents and grandparents who served to recognize all of the achievements that they had throughout their years in the war. LC, on the other hand, honors theses soldiers by displaying artifacts throughout the high school.
