On Tuesday, Sept. 1 the JV girls soccer team faced off against Portage High School. They won against Portage with a score of 4-0.

“I think it went well. We played nicely together, and our dynamic was good that game,” Darby McGrath (11) said.

The girls led off the game with a lot of energy and scored two goals within the first 10 minutes of the game.

“[The game was] in our favor. We had control of the ball for most of the game. [Portage] didn’t get many shots on the goal. I think overall Lake Central has a better team than Portage, but we don’t go into the game thinking that we’re going to beat them. We have to stay focused,”  McGrath said.

The girls showed teamwork throughout the game. They worked together to get around Portage’s defense.

“We definitely played as a whole team. We try to work on that as much as we can with team bonding,” Gillian Suroviak (10) said.

The girls’ next game is Thursday, Sept. 3 at Munster.
