On Saturday, Sept. 20, Lake Central took on the Concord High School girls soccer team, who traveled from Elkhart, Indiana. In the end, the lady Indians clinched the victory, winning 8-0.
“I think our game against Concord went great. We were very focused and played pretty in touch with each other. Though this game was pretty good, I think in general we need to work on communication on the field. It might have been hard to tell, but we sort of need to work on team building,” Ella Crowley (9) said.
Before their 2025 season started, the girls attended
a Purdue University soccer camp to learn skills and tips for the sport, which prepared them for their upcoming matches.
“At the beginning of the season we went to a Purdue camp, and dancing in the rain while we were there was probably my favorite memory from this season. The camp got us ready for games and put all of us in a good mood,” Phoebe Fogarty (12) said.
Though the camp motivated the girls for their first few matches, they still need something to keep the momentum through the year. Each girl had their own motivation, but for many, their teammates kept them strong.
“The thing that keeps me motivated throughout the season is my team. They are like my family, and even if we have arguments, we’re always there for each other. When we have early morning practices, my teammates bring my mood up and bring the energy to the field,” Fogarty said.
