The varsity boys soccer team gathers for a picture with their sectional trophy. This was the Indians’ 13th straight sectional title.

On Saturday, Oct. 10, the boys varsity soccer team defeated the Highland Trojans 3-0 in the Class 2A Sectional Final. This was the team’s 13th straight sectional title.

“I’m blessed [to be a part of such a successful program]. I graduated from here in 1994 and it was a successful program then, and when I came back in 1998 it was still a successful program. We’ve been able to continue the legacy of a lot of alumni,” Mr. Jereme Rainwater, Vocational, said.

The Indians were able to grab a quick lead in the first round sectional match-up, and took that same mentality into their battle with the Trojans. The boys grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first half and did not look back.

“We planned to set the tone early and try to get the first goal, and obviously we executed and were able to set the tone of the game really fast,” Cole Rainwater (9) said.

The Indians’ celebration was a fun one for the boys, but they understand their season is not done quite yet.

“[The celebrating stops] right now. We prepare for the next game right now. As soon as we heard the last whistle we started preparing for the next game,” Enrique Dominguez (11) said.
The boys next game will be Thursday, Oct.15, against the Chesterton Trojans who will be entering the game with a record of 16-2.
