The freshman baseball team redeemed themselves in their game against Crown Point on Wednesday, April 20. The boys defeated Crown Point with a score of 9-1.
“We lost [to] Crown Point yesterday, but the kids didn’t get discouraged. They came back and hit first. We responded well to what happen yesterday and we didn’t get down at all during the game. They played hard,” Coach Brian McNamara said.
The boys pushed hit the ball home all throughout the game, the only inning they didn’t score was the first. Pitcher, Maxwell Born (9), pitched throughout the whole game leading the team to victory.
“The team is going to do very good for the rest of the season. I felt like today’s win really solidified how good of a team we [are],” Darek Szymczak (9) said.
Many of the boys are optimistic about the rest of the season.
“We played like a team. We just got base runners and tried to get them in, and we succeeded. I think we are going to pretty good [the rest of the season],” Thomas Friel (9) said.
The boys next game is away on Saturday, April 23 at Huntington North High School at 10 a.m.
