Taking a clean sweep on the first day of Sectionals, the boys tennis team conquered  Kankakee Valley with a score of 5-0 on Sept. 29.

“The team has been steadily improving through the season, and I think we’ve reached our highest point right now when the stakes are highest, so that’s good,” Keith Crawford (12) said.

Unlike last year, the team will not be playing against Crown Point, since the team lost to them last year, so the boys are looking forward to dominating tomorrow night at the last round of Sectionals.

“The team has been doing extremely well this year. This is the first time in a long while we have a shot at winning Sectionals, as Crown Point usually dominates us,” Mathew Matakovic (11) said.

The seniors on the team are now starting to realize that the season is almost over.

“Knowing that the season is [almost] over [is] truly heartbreaking. I loved this team and all it had to offer from the long bus rides, to the brotherhood and the teamwork it took to win. I am going to miss it and will never forget my teammates and coaches, who I have so much to thank for. I’ve only been playing tennis for two years and have improved so much. I just wish I had more time. I’m so blessed to have it all. It will be an experience I will never forget,” Noah Meyer (12) said.
