After every semester, each student with a minimum GPA of 3.9 is eligible to join Academic Letterwinners. For each additional semester they achieve this feat, they receive a prestigious award.

“I feel like there’s an essence of pride behind it,” Jeremy Huisenga (11) said.

Huisenga, who is considering applying for an officer position for the 2012-2013 school year, views the club as a very prestigious thing to put on a resume, as do many other students.

“I feel like it is a privilege because of the difficulty of some courses,” Joshua Rech (10) said.

Students who are up to the task may apply for officer positions to further extend their participation in the club.

“[Some of our responsibilities as officers include] making invitations, checking which awards each student is eligible for and setting up for the banquet,” Danielle Lulich (11) said.

The club’s annual banquet will take place on April 19, 2012, at Saint Maria Goretti Church in Dyer.
