On Thursday, April 20, the Symphonic Band, Concert Band and Wind Ensemble performed in the auditorium. Band Director Mr. Dave Nelson, Music, led the production of each band.
“My favorite part of the concert was definitely being able to perform for the audience and give them chills from allthe beautiful pieces Mr. Nelson chose,” Abby Zivkovich (10) said.
Each band performed three songs during the hour and half concert. Songs included “Elegy for a Young American” and “Cajun Folk Songs.”
“My favorite song was ‘Elegy for a Young American’ because it has extreme emotion. I believe it went really well. Mr. Nelson definitely seemed pleased by our performance,” Zivkovich said.
The bands have been practicing for the past couple of weeks, preparing for the concert to perform in front of a live audience.
“I did enjoy performing because we were in front of a full audience instead of just the band directors and the class,” Sofia Massignani (9) said.
Despite having previously performed throughout the year, the nerves were still prevalent in many students.
“I was really nervous at first but, after playing in front of my class so many times, it boosted my confidence and I think it made me a much better player. I think our concert went really well because everyone had a lot of fun and the parents seemed to really like it,” Massignani said.
