From Senior to Freshman

Freshman Center Principal Ken Miller will be retiring after this school year and will be replaced by Assistant Principal Sean Begley.

“It’s always exciting to take on a new challenge. It keeps you sharp,” Mr. Begley said.

After 29 years in the Lake Central School Corporation, Mr. Miller will be leaving to pursue other opportunities.

“I teach at Purdue Calumet part time. I do staff development training. I also teach at Certified Driving School,” Mr. Miller said.

With Mr. Miller leaving, Mr. Richard Moore, the current dean of students, will be moving up to Mr. Begley’s old job, assistant principal and principal of the senior class.

“We’ll post the position of dean sometime soon,” Mr. Begley said.

Mr. Miller and Mr. Begley, who became close friends from riding together to work when Mr. Begley returned form Iraq, think highly of each other.

“I have big shoes to fill with Mr. Miller. He’s been an administrator that the Freshman Center teachers admire. He’s also a principal this entire district has admired for many years,” Begley said.

Though Mr. Begley insists he has big shoes to fill, Mr. Miller does not doubt that he can do it.

“I think they made an excellent choice [picking him]. He’ll do an outstanding job. LC is very fortunate to have Begley moving into the Freshman Center,” Mr. Miller said.

With all the shifting around, many things in both the Freshman Center office and main high school office will be changing.

“I’ll have my own way of doing things, but I think Mr. Miller has shown what right looks like,” Mr. Begley said.
