On Saturday, Dec. 16 the varsity boys basketball team defeated Highland Morton with a score of 65-54. Their next meet will be on Dec. 19 at Munster.

Finishing her first swing, Maya Parks (10) watches where her shot lands. After Parks realized she enjoyed golf, she joined the team a few years after. “I joined the golf team because I really enjoy the game and it challenges me everyday. Golf affects me positively by improving my ability to control my emotions. On the course it is just you out there and there are times you find yourself feeling lost. I try to show my commitment to the sport and my team by putting in work at practice daily and spending time by myself to improve my game,” Parks said.

Taking Down the Vikings
Stepping back to hit the ball, freshman varsity player Joseph Devine (9) works hard to win the match. Devine got a pep talk from his coach with some advice and motivation. “I started playing tennis for physical therapy when I broke my knee. I wanted to join the Lake Central tennis team because I thought that it would be something that I would enjoy and to be more physically active. I always give my all during matches even if I don’t feel my best. I have had a back injury and a wrist injury but I try to not let that hold me back,” Devine said.

Before the game starts, the girls varsity soccer team huddles up for a quick pep talk. The girls talked about their plans for the game before they faced the opposing team.
Going for the Goal
Observing her opponent's moves, Arielle Carter-Reed (10) prepares to take action. When her teammate bumped the ball, Carter-Reed swiftly moved around the court and watched for the next move. “During games my eye is always on the ball. I also like to study the opposing team’s tactics because it helps me perform better. This really gets my head into the game,” Carter-Reed said.
