On Thursday, May 5, theater students held the opening night of freshman shows. Students performed a total of three shows that were directed by upperclassmen.

Reading a book, Bayless Neth (11) waits for her cue to add into the conversation on stage. During the theater’s production of “Much Ado About Nothing,” Neth played Hero, the love interest of Claudio. “After the class show this year, our theater class definitely learned not to perform Shakespeare in a school performance,” Neth said. After a long, tiring show, many of the actors were exhausted. “Watching the other actors at work on stage is one of my favorite parts of performing as well, since you can see everyone’s improvement since the first practice for the show. Theater classes help me explore characters that are outside of my comfort zone, which definitely improve me as an actor,” Neth said.

Singing on stage, Stephen Stranz (10) and Bayless Neth (10) perform as Spongebob Squarepats and Patrick Star. The performers have a friendship on and off stage which creates good chemistry when playing their roles. “Our strong bonds and commitment to having fun were the key to making Spongebob a show to remember,” Stranz said.

On stage, Brianna Rodrigez (12) and Ryan Falkner (12) share a special moment on stage as their characters express their love for eachother. Falkner and Rodrigez put their all into the show as they celebrated one of the last times sharing the stage together.

Listening attentively, the audience follows along on the notes printed for the meeting. Along with College Board, students and parents were provided other tools such as Naviance for college preparation. “All students have Naviance accounts set up and they can access it through the LCHS homepage. Naviance has many helpful tools for both college and career planning. Scholarship information is also available on Naviance. Students who become familiar with Naviance before their senior year will be able to better utilize the resources provided,” Ms. Ginger Marinkovinch (Guidance) said.

After being announced, Mr. Ralph Holden (Social Studies) and the rest of the shavees came into the gym by punching through a St. Baldrick’s banner. This banner was specially made by the cheer team so the participants could break through it easily.
