On Sept. 11, the Varsity Girls Soccer team made a lasting victory over Chesterton.
Serena Stincic-Perez (11) scored the first goal of the game, putting the team in the lead.
LC’s offensive line was strong throughout the whole game, with Shannon Freedom (12) as one of the starting players.
“Chesterton is ranked pretty high, so [this game] was a tough one to win. It was the best game we ever played as a team,” Freedom said.
Lauren Doreski (12) scored the winning goal, making the final score 2-1.
“We keep rising each game, showing people that [although] we lost 12 seniors last year, this year we’re coming back. It’s a redemption,” Doreski said.
The home victory was bitter-sweet, because it was senior night.
“[We] hope to make it past Sectionals into Regionals, for the last hurrah,” Vanessa Olsen (12) said.
The team will play again on Sept. 18 at Valparaiso High School.
