Swimming to Victory

Abbey O’Neill, Print Team Leader

On Thursday, Dec. 4, the girls Varsity swim and dive team competed against Highland. With the girls winning 140-39 against Highland, they have added another win to this season.

“I think the whole team did well and cut times and we should all be really proud of ourselves,” Megan Soeka (10) said.

With the boy’s swim team quarantined, one of the main goals for the girls team is to finish the season. They are wearing masks every time they come out of the pool and social distancing as best they can while supporting each other.

“Honestly, our goal is to be able to finish our season since COVID hit. Staying safe while working hard is all that we’re focused on at the moment,” Addyson Popoca (10) said.

With wanting to continue the season the swim team also wants to be able to cut times and make it sectionals or even state. With just this meet they showed that they are working really hard this season to reach their goals.

“I’ve been swimming since I was 9-years-old, but what motivated me was my mom who was a swimmer in high school, what also motivated me was wanting to get into shape and better myself,” said Soeka (10).
