On a Wednesday afternoon in December, Lake Central N-Teens members made their way to the auditorium after school.
“For meetings we typically text in our group chat to figure out what we want to address in the meeting and Mrs. Collard puts together a slideshow for us to go through. For the holiday meeting we put together a Kahoot with Christmas trivia and also helped organize the other games we wanted to play,” Anna Herr (12) said.
While there were lots of fun, entertaining things to do at this meeting, people had the best time doing certain activities.
“My favorite thing that I did was definitely doing the Kahoot holiday trivia quiz with my partner Maddie. We both ended up getting first place and won baskets, so that was really exciting,” Itzia Oseguera (10) said.
The officers that help set up for the meetings do have busy lives, yet they still manage to find time in their schedules for this club.
“I am able to balance N-teens with my personal life by leaning on my other officers to help if I need it, since N-teens is one of the biggest clubs at Lake Central it’s easy to get overwhelmed. But, my Co-President Braiden Cooper and I aide together with Mrs. Collard, so we’re able to work on stuff then,” Herr said.
Not only does being in a club build college resumes, it also helps create a positive environment as a whole.
“I joined this club freshman year as a way to hang out with my friends after school and get service hours to start building up my college applications. N-Teens is an easy way to hang out with friends while getting some service hours and making a difference in the community, too. I feel like I have been able to make a difference in my community through the programs I have worked with, especially Logan’s Love, and I feel like these experiences have helped me realize the importance of service and become a better person,” Braiden Cooper (11) said.
