School Board members, administration and the community met in the LGI room on Dec. 3, to discuss and/or approve notions. Every item on the agenda with action required was approved and will take effect as soon as possible.
One of the important issues discussed at the meeting was the implementation of a new schedule for the 2013-2014 school year at the high school. Mr. Robin Tobias, Principal, informed board members and community members about the seven period Block Matrix schedule.
This new schedule decreases the number of classes a student takes from eight to seven. In place of an 8th period class, students will rotate through their first seven classes.
“There is a very strong possibility that this schedule will be implemented next year. It will benefit both students and teachers,” Tobias said.
Another topic considered at the board meeting was funding for construction of the new high school. Mr. Bill Ledyard sought approval for contracts with the lowest bidding construction companies and was approved on every bid.
“The construction is within budget as far as I know and on schedule for each of the phases,” Mr. Tobias said.
The School Board will meet again on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. in the LGI room.
