On Thursday Jan. 17, Lake Central held its annual Parent Night. Parents of incoming freshmen could come to the school and get an idea of what school will be like for their child next year.
The event started at 5 p.m. and went until around 8:15 p.m. Parents could take tours of the building given by students, attend the parent information session or look around the cafeteria to see what clubs and activities are available to the students
“Last year’s freshman class was kind of loud and rowdy. I’m guessing next years will be the same way,” Cassidy Coyle (10) said.
Several of the school’s principals and assistant principals talked to the parents during the information session and explained the new “Matrix schedule” along with other things changing in the school.
“I am very pleased to see the construction happening and I am very excited for the kids,” parent Cathy Leatherman said.
Students who helped out at the event received service hours for it. Parents were greeted at the door by students in Freshman class cabinet and were given information packets about the upcoming school year Students from other groups such as National Honor Society led tours for the parents and told them more about the school.
“It was awesome to see how excited all the parents were to seen the high school,” Sean Meyer (9) said.
