Practicing vigorously this season, the boys wrestling team went to Semi-State Feb. 9 with high hopes.
“It’s my senior year, so it is my last shot to make it to State” Matthew Lechowicz (12) said.
The boys worked hard at practices to make it this far in the season. It was important to them to advance from Semi-State to state.
“We try not to eat or drink a lot because we want to stay in the weight division that is right for us,” Gelen Robinson (11) said.
Right now it is important to them to work hard, and improve techniques that can make them better for the upcoming State Tournament.
These boys prepare for tournaments by plugging in their headphones, zoning out and focusing on keeping their heads in the game.
“I have been working hard since freshman year, and all of this year, I don’t have any regrets,” Lechowicz said.
Lechowicz will be competing in the 120-pound weight class, Robinson in the 220-pound weight class and Branden Truver (10) will be wrestling in the 113-pound class at the State Tournament on Feb. 15.
