With a tournament last Saturday followed by four straight matches, the girls tennis team faced a challenge this week. Facing some of the best teams in their conference, the girls had a tough fight.
On Wednesday the team took the long trip to LaPorte. While varsity came up just short of a win with a score of 2-3, JV continued their winning streak with a score of 6-3.
“[Being undefeated] puts a little pressure on but it helps me because I want to do well for my team,” Andjela Jovanovic (11) said.
The unseasonably warm weather proved a bit of a challenge for both teams, but the girls did not let it defeat them.
“When it’s warmer you get tired quicker, but you still have to go for every shot,” Emily Birlson (10) said.
The team still has a lot to improve on before the end of the season, whether it be as a team or individually.
“I want to play better and improve as well as be a better teammate by motivating the other girls while they’re playing,” Jovanovic said.
The team’s next home match is Thursday, May 9 against Michigan City.
