March 18, 2014
Dollars for Scholars has recently discussed upcoming fundraisers and volunteer opportunities to raise money for seniors from selling coupons for Carson’s to Penny Wars.
Penny Wars is a competition between the middle and elementary schools to see who can raise the most money. All the funds go to seniors for a scholarship.
“Definitely join [Dollars for Scholars] because its very interactive, you can earn scholarships from volunteering and its not very hard work,” Koutropoulos (12) said.
This meeting was held in the LGI where upcoming events like the Awards Tea and The Grand March need volunteers for. The Awards Tea is April 27, and the Grand March is on May 3. DFS is also selling hanging baskets to raise money. The 10” basket is $18 and the 12” basket is $25.
Dollars for Scholars is also getting prepared to elect a new student board for the upcoming year. Freshmen are eligible to join. The next meeting is April 8 in the LGI at 2:15 p.m.
