Don’t miss Vimeo’s first kiss

On March 10, one of Vimeo’s users posted a video that explored the awkward satisfaction of a first kiss while reaching over 40 million people in the span of four days.

Filmed in black-and-white, 20 complete strangers, including same-sex couples, were told to kiss on-command for the camera. The video showed how a strike of passion can be shared no matter who the person is.

“I liked [the video] because we were taught ‘don’t talk to strangers’, and I believe that to some extent. These people who had just met shared something so intimate and emotional; I thought it was very beautiful. The other thing I liked is that you saw all kinds of relationships, interracial, gay, lesbian, old and young. When you put aside looks, age, religion, you get a very pure and beautiful moment between two strangers, and I think that is really special,” Evelyn Reder (9) said.

Inspired by the simplicity of the video, Reder shared the video on Twitter, showing the virality of this story.

I found the video to be inspiring and a step in a new direction. Straying from the norm, the video told a story about how true and innocent a kiss can be. I hope this video continues to grow in popularity and helps more people learn to accept the world’s humans in their pursuit of love.
