Saturday, June 6, 101WKQX partnered with Saint Xavier University to host the annual concert festival, PIQNIQ, at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheater in Tinley Park, Ill. Gates opened at 1:00 p.m., allowing people of all ages to watch the opening bands perform.
People from various areas gathered for one reason: to listen to music. A mix of pop, rock and alternative bands came together to appeal to the ears of many.
“Really, everything was awesome. [There was] great music, great weather [and] great people. It was such a fun experience. I can’t wait for next year,” Bianca Alessia (11) said.
Because opening bands were included with general admission, people were allowed watch from wherever they wished. The opening bands included Smallpools, Saint Motel, The Mowgls and a special guest performance from Vinyl Theater. Once the opening bands finished around 5:00 p.m., Joywave, Catfish and The Bottlemen, Bleachers, The Offspring and Cage The Elephant began to perform in the main pavilion until 11:00 p.m.
“PIQNIQ was definitely a day to remember,” Amanda Lopez (11) said.
