On Tuesday, Nov. 28, the girls varsity swim team competed against Valparaiso. In the previous years, Valparaiso has beaten the girls continuously, but the tables have turned.
“We swam hard and beat a team that has been beating us for the past few years. Not only did we beat them. We did an outstanding job,” Ashley Knerler (12) said.
The girls did not take this meet lightly. They made sure that they were prepared and ready to compete one of their biggest DAC rivals.
“We prepared for our meet tonight by acknowledging the fact that Valparaiso would be a tough team to beat. Each practice makes us strong and builds endurance for the swim meet. We worked on drills and practiced in individual even lanes. We built strength by going to the weight room and we used resistance equipment,” Knerler said.
Even though the lady Indians beat the Vikings, they still have a whole season ahead of them and many goals to achieve.
“Our team goals is to win DAC, Sectionals and highland invite,” Allison Belifuss (11) said.
