Grace Bentkowski (10) is the advertising leader for Student Council. Bentkowski was happy to organize this event with other members.

Student Council will be collecting plastic caps to help alleviate the financial burden of chemotherapy. The collection will be held until April and 1500 caps is equivalent to one treatment.

Caps for chemo is a fundraiser student council is running to help those in NWI who are currently receiving chemotherapy treatments. We are asking the staff and student body to assist us with this by collecting any type of plastic caps. These caps can be turned into PtE teachers or myself in room C116. Once the fundraiser ends on April 20, we will have all of the caps recycled and use the money collected to help pay for patient’s necessary treatments,” Mrs. Brittney Gore, English, said.

Student Council took the initiative to start this event because many have or are currently being affected by cancer. The urge to help the community is an instilled core principle in order to be in Student Council.

“Being in Student Council is very rewarding, you get to give back to the community and better the community and make it an all around better place to live in. [That’s why] caps for chemotherapy is an important fundraiser, because it supplies underprivileged children with the ability to fight cancer,” Aubrey Atkins (11) said.

Student Council has organized the Angel Tree and is preparing for the Color Run. If you are interested in being apart of Student Council, talk to Mrs. Gore in room C116.
