LC’s First Art Exhibt

For the first time, Mrs. Maureen Yaeger and Mrs. Chris Colle are holding an art exhibit in the library this year for AP Studio 2-D and 3-D Art this year starting on Tuesday, May 22, 2012.

Each senior has five or six pieces of artwork that they put up for display.

“What’s in the library isn’t necessarily the students’ best work; most of what they’ve worked on throughout the year is sent off to the AP Central Graders who judge their work on a scale one to five,” Mrs. Colle said.

In AP Studio 3-D, the ceramics are all digitally submitted, and 2-D students have to send pieces of their artwork in.

“The students have to submit a portfolio with three sections in it: Breath, Concentration and Quality,” Mrs. Colle said.

During the school day, the artwork is displayed for everyone to see. Between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., there will be refreshments for spectators to enjoy.

“The exhibit is open to anyone; we didn’t have much time to plan it. Next year, we’re hopefully going to have it be more formal at a hall rather than at school,” Mrs. Colle said.
