Varsity Volleyball Defeats Merrillville

The Varsity Volleyball team, victorious yet again, snagged a win at the home game against Merrillville on Thursday, Sept. 6.

Nicole Garza (12) opened the match serving the ball. After volleys back and forth between the teams, the first point was scored with a spike from Victoria Gardenhire (9).The first set of the match went to LC with a score of 25-13.

“You have to go into the game without underestimating them. You just have to work your hardest no matter what,” Lauren DiNino (12) said.

For the second set of the match, LC, again, took the first point. LC fought to keep their lead. It was a close set, but LC was victorious with a score of 25-18.

In the third set of the match, the girls were determined to bring it home, and ended up winning the set 25-5.

“I’m really proud of everything they’ve accomplished so far. Tonight was a total team effort,” Coach Tina Tinberg said.
