Happy Harvest Sunflowers

Happy Harvest Sunflowers is a charming roadside attraction off of Holtz Rd. in Lowell, Indiana. The pop-up stand consists of a sunflower gazebo, mini pumpkins, full-sized pumpkins and more. There is also an area for the perfect photo opportunities, with beautiful zinnia flowers or a painted butterfly on the side of one of the silos. It’s clear the owners have put a lot of work into making this a memorable outing.  If you’re in the area and are looking for affordable, fresh fall produce, this is the perfect stop.

Bouquets of sunflowers are sold for $5, mini pumpkins are $1 each and larger pumpkins can be anywhere from $1-$5.  Payment is based on the honor system, but there are cameras surrounding the area to keep an eye on everything.  While in the photo area, you’re free to take pictures wherever you can find an angle.  It’s a great place to practice your photography or get a good Instagram post.

It seems that this year has brought many of these stands to the region, on both larger and smaller scales.  Many larger farms like Johnson’s Produce in Hobart, Indiana, have planted sunflower fields, and it feels like a new sunflower stand pops up every weekend.  This sunflower craze has hit the region hard, and it’s exciting to see small businesses and farms making money from something as simple as a sunflower.

There are plenty of other similar farms and stands for you to explore in Lowell as well.  With places like Buckley Homestead, Harvest Tyme Pumpkin Patch and others, you can easily make this quick trip last for hours.  If you’re looking for an inexpensive adventure, check out Happy Harvest Sunflowers and the surrounding attractions in Lowell.
