The sun was beaming and the bats were swinging as the freshman boys baseball team earned a victory against Chesterton on Thursday, May 16.

“We played a really good game and everyone played a key role in the victory,” Christopher Zaikos (9) said.

Daniel Zahorsky (9) pitched five innings of four-hit ball in the shutout.

“I was feeling good during warm-ups; I knew I had the starting position and had to stay focused.” Daniel Zahorsky (9)

Both Maxwell Barnhart (9) and Christopher Zaikos (9) led the charge offensively. Each had a pair of singles and had four RBI altogether.

“I just tried to put the ball in play and make something happen,” Barnhart said.

Aaron McDonald (9) hit a triple and scored two runs during the game.

“We were seeing the ball really good yesterday. Every batter on the team contributed to the 10 runs that we scored,” Zaikos said.

The final score was 10-0, and it was the last conference game of the season.

“We ended our conference games on a good note. Hopefully we can play at the tournament like we did against Chesterton,” Zahorsky said.
