Freshmen given a spotlight

On March 4, Mrs. Pam Neth, English, held a call-out meeting for the freshmen plays.

“It’s always good to get new faces out. We do freshmen plays so that the freshmen have a chance to be the leads in the play [rather than] always having to compete with the upperclassmen,” Mrs. Neth said.

Four plays will be chosen and will be directed by upperclassmen. Each show will be 30 minutes or less.

“I was a set designer for the musical. [I am looking forward to] having a bigger spotlight as a freshman,” Emily Badger (9) said.

Most of the freshmen who are wanting to audition are experienced in theatre.

“I did plays in middle school and I also sing. I’m definitely looking forward to the acting because I love it,” Stephanie O’Drobinak (9) said.

Auditions for the plays will be held on March 11 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the LGI. Callbacks will be held the following day in room 9130.

“The biggest hope is that [the freshmen plays] will generate interest for the theater program,” Mrs. Neth said.

The freshmen plays will be the last plays of the school year. The planned dates of the performances will be Wednesday, April 30 and Friday, May 2.
