On a warm Thursday evening, the Lake Central Choir and Handbells held their annual fall concert.
“I think there were some rough spots and some good spots. One of the rough spots was in “Falling for you” when I was supposed to stay at the same note but I went up and down again, which might have messed up the harmony. I liked “Viva la Company” a lot. I think we had a lot of good energy for that song and I think we did really well,” Timothy Schmiedl (12) said.
The different choirs perform a large medley of songs from different artists, ranging from Sabrina Carpenter to Mozart.
“My favorite song from the concert was Viva la Company. We had a lot of good energy, especially during rehearsals. We were very expressive and I felt really good about our performance,” Schmiedl said.
All of the show choirs performed a coordinated dance number with one of their songs.
“I happened to choreograph the dance I did for the show choir, so it was easier for me to memorize that one. I’d say it depends on how often you review and go over the choreography. That is a big determining factor in how memorized we will be,” Katherine Schneider (12) said.
This class is a creative outlet for many of its students.
“My favorite part about choir is learning new songs with all my friends and being able to perform that. It’s fun to put in the work to learn new songs and be able to show it off at a concert to see the audience’s reaction,” Vanessa Roy (12) said.
