The girls swim team fought a close match at their meet against Munster on Thursday, Jan. 17, coming up just two points short of victory. After tying Crown Point earlier in the week, the girls hoped to defeat Munster for the second time this year.
“Everyone really pushed themselves in practice and gave the best they could throughout the week,” Rebecca Albright (11) said.
Although the girls were not able to pull through to victory, their performance at the meet encourages them as they look ahead to the postseason.
“Overall, the girls did amazing. Most everyone got best times for the season, which is a good sign for what’s to come at Sectionals. This meet helped us prove to ourselves that we really are even closer to [Munster] than we think,” Brianna Shoemaker (11) said.
As the regular season comes to a close, the team is making some changes in order to prepare for Sectionals.
“As of Monday [at practice] we’re on taper. To prepare for the rest of the season we will be making sure to be eating healthy and getting plenty of rest while mentally preparing ourselves for Sectionals,” Shoemaker (11) said.
